The Weight of Unmet Expectations

Vamsi had always been a giver. Since childhood, he believed that if he was kind enough, patient enough, and selfless enough, he would be loved in return. He helped his classmates with their assignments but was never invited to their birthday parties. He listened to his friends’ problems for hours, but when he needed a shoulder to lean on, no one had time.

At work, he went above and beyond to support his colleagues, yet they took credit for his ideas without a second thought. Even in his family, he felt like an outsider. No matter what he did, his achievements were downplayed, and his opinions ignored.

The harder he tried, the more exhausted he became. He often wondered, What am I doing wrong? Why do some people never appreciate me, no matter how much I give?

Then, one evening, after a particularly disheartening day, he visited his grandmother. As they sat on the porch drinking tea, she sensed his sadness and said,
