Observed annually on December 10, Human Rights Day marks the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This historic document, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on December 10, 1948, is a milestone in the global recognition of fundamental rights.

It declares the inalienable rights to which every human being is entitled, irrespective of race, color, religion, gender, language, political views, national origin, property, or any other status.

The UDHR serves as a universal standard for human dignity and a foundation for international, national, and local laws. It is also integral to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Translated into 577 languages, from Abkhaz to Zulu, it holds the distinction of being the most translated document in the world.
